Hunting In Australia For most visitors, flying to Australia is a very long trip and in most cases there will be a difference in time, which means that you will get jetlag. Dankorp Hunting Safari's recommend a day or two in a relaxing resort in Cairns or Darwin or the nearest town where your hunt will begin, we have seen from experience that if you start your hunt strait away, you will not get the most out of it. We have resorts from $40 ~ $2000 per night,. Dankorp will look after you while your are here, and we will send you on daytrips if wanted. To hunt in Australia you need a visitors shooters license, which you can download over the net or contact Dankorp Hunting Safari's and we will send it to you. You will need Adobe Acrobat to download it, you will need to apply 2 month before leaving we don’t recommend any to bring there own weapons, if something goe’s wrong you could need up going hunting without your riffle Australia is very hot in the summer months, make sure to be prepared for that, here are the 3 most important things: always wear a hat, Use Sunscreen, drink plenty of water. Although it is very hot in summer, the further you go inland the colder it gets at night, have warm cloths ready for that. There is no requirement for vaccinations in Australia, there is no Malaria or other dangerous deceases, to be 100% sure, talk to your local GP. We do have poisons Sneaks and Spiders in Australia and we will not try to hide it, instead we prepare for it, we have been hunting for more than 15 years and have never had any close encounters with our reptiles, but we always have our first aid kid with us and we always have radio in the cars for fast help if necessary. Buffalo The far north of Australia is on similar latitude to central southern Africa (Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana) and it enjoys a similar climate with dry summers and tropical wet winter seasons. We only hunt in the dry season. Large areas are covered in a week of hunting and we operate air conditioned 4WD vehicles to travel to suitable hunting areas from our base camp each day. Our Huntingarea has Buffalo in plentiful numbers. This is Australia's premier big game animal and deserves the highest level of respect when hunting. Whether it is on the open plains or at close quarters in the swamps and rainforest these animals are extremely tough and difficult to put down. Shooting ranges are rarely more than 80 meters and can be much closer in the heavy forests. Accommodation is in houses wit everything you would normal use, all food is supplies and all transport is of course include They have mosquito nets over the beds, but it is never to bad in Winter where we normal hunt. Drive in 4x4 vehicle with the guide where buffalo herd was spotted (Guides know the buffalo herds or groups whereabouts), then leave the vehicle and stalk on foot. Then vehicle takes capes & horns etc. back to the camp. Hard to say about buffalo trophy potential there - the area never been hunted before. From my own experience you can have a good buffalo all over the Northern Territory. 95-110 SCI score can be reasonably expected and this is the hunt for good buffalo - we are not shooting calves ! What's included in your hunt:
Banteng Hunts: We offer free range Banteng hunts on the far northern Coburg Peninsula in conjunction with Brandon Hurt Safaris. These hunts can be taken before or after your buffalo safari. Pigs Pig hunting is one of our favorites, it can be very exciting and at times very dangerous, it happens that Pigs attack if there is no other way out, if that happens you have two choices, get up in a tree or shoot and do it fast. Dankorp Hunting have a big variety of pig hunting, all up we have 1,000,000 acres split up on different farm so that we all the time can pick the best one with the most pigs, we are in contact with the farmers all the times to insure that. The reason that we have picked farmland is that where there is food there is pigs, further inland where the cattle farm are there is not the same amount of food and therefore les pigs, it is pretty comment to see mobs of pigs up to 30-50. Late in the afternoon we hunt over the selected sight until sundown or even into the evening if the Pigs are feeding later. Early morning hunts are conducted by departing camp well before first light and sneaking up on these baited areas to catch the big boars feeding late into the early morning light. In the middle of the days we stalk along creeks and the pigs cool daytime resting areas, which are known to carry permanent pig populations. Fast shooting action requiring quick and accurate shooting is had when disturbing the boars in their sleeping areas. Where we hunt is very flat farm land with lots of dam's, we get around by 4x4 morning and evening and we hunt the dams and along the creeks during the day. The climate is very warm from September till April with cool nights, in the winter months it is still warm at day but very cold nights, tempetures 2- 4 below, so remember some warm clothes. We can supply suitable scoped rifles on any of our hunts. We like a 30.06 for hunting our pigs or big boars. And our choice of Aim point or scope. We have over the last 5 Years been doing Boar hunt with a relaxing holiday and tour after and it has been a great success, because the whole family can come and while some members are hunting others are relaxing around the pool. It is normal a 2 week trip with 5 days hunting and the rest is mixed relaxing and tours but it can be designed after our visitors wish. |
